Epic Election Day sunset dazzles Washington after two days of rain

Who knows what it signifies, but Washington was treated to one of its greatest sunsets in memory this Election Day.

The brilliant show followed two days of rain, which catapulted 2018 into first place among wettest years on record. Nearly 56 inches of rain have fallen this year.

The sinking sun’s evening glow intercepting the departing clouds created a beautiful mix of color and texture. In some places, rainbows were spotted as the sun’s rays connected with remnant showers.
