Don’t let the recent deluge discourage you from heading to the slopes. Skiing this weekend is going to be fantastic.

Snow bases took a little bit of a beating from Thursday’s rain, but the cold backside of the storm dropped several inches of natural snow in many mountainous areas. In addition, the return of cold air Thursday afternoon has allowed for continuous snow-making ever since.

Most every Mid-Atlantic ski resort is reporting groomed or packed powder snow conditions. And on Friday morning, snow showers were zipping across ski areas from Snowshoe in West Virginia to Wisp in Maryland to Liberty in Pennsylvania.

“Liberty, Whitetail and Roundtop are all looking forward to a fantastic weekend on the slopes,” said Anne Weimer with Liberty Mountain Resort. (Liberty, Whitetail and Roundtop resorts are under the same ownership.) “The weather is going to be ideal for skiing, boarding and snow tubing.”

This is probably the best weekend so far of the season, with tons of trails open and good snow conditions. So get out there and get it while the getting is good!
