Tracking the path of Hurricane Fiona’s destruction

Hurricane Fiona is moving northward Tuesday after making landfall in Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic on Monday morning.

Extremely heavy rain and flooding continued in Puerto Rico on Monday morning even as the center of the storm moved over the Dominican Republic.

Rainfall totals ballooned to over 2 feet in some locations, with a top total of 27 inches in Lago Cerrillos, in south-central Puerto Rico.

Intense rain flooded rivers, triggering landslides and destroying homes, roads and bridges.

According to a study by the U.S. Geological Survey, about 30 percent of Puerto Rico is at high to extremely high risk for landslides in intense rainfall conditions.
