Gray seals, a crocodile hatchling, the world’s oldest known living bird and other fun and fascinating creatures.
Nov. 29, 2013 Wisdom, the world’s oldest known living bird, who astounded scientists last year by hatching a chick at age 62, is at it again. She was captured on video laying an egg at Midway Atoll National Wildlife Refuge in Hawaii exactly a year and a day after laying her previous one. Before that egg hatched in early February, scientists thought birds as old as Wisdom were infertile. Wisdom was identified by a band first clasped to her ankle by the U.S. Geological Survey at the refuge in 1956. She has raised five chicks since 2006 and probably 35 in her lifetime.
