— At least 15 people — including children and civilians — were killed and nearly two dozen wounded Sunday in a deadly bomb attack on a convoy of security forces outside Pakistan’s northwestern city of Peshawar, police and witnesses said.

“The spot where the security forces convoy was attacked is a busy area where civilians and vendors were hit,” said Ihsan Ghani, police chief of the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

“We are after the terrorists across the province,” he said.

Javed Marwat, deputy commissioner of Peshawar, told reporters at the hospital that the injured had been treated and that all emergency medical care was being provided.

Senior police officer Shafiullah Khan said a three-vehicle convoy of Frontier Corps, a paramilitary force, was on its way to the northwestern district of Tank “when an explosive-laden vehicle was exploded.”

He said the bomber targeted the security forces.

Bomb disposal squad officials said 88-pound explosives were used in the blast.
