Tens of thousands gather in London for an elaborate farewell to the former prime minister.
April 17, 2013 The coffin of Margaret Thatcher, the former British prime minister, is bought up Ludgate Hill en route to St. Paul’s Cathedral in London. Thatcher, a controversial figure in the country, died April 8. Although not a state funeral — a status reserved largely for monarchs — the military honors and pomp unfurled for the event marks the most elaborate goodbye for any elected leader in Britain since Winston Churchill.
