The Washington Post is looking for an interactive map developer with strong cartography skills to join the graphics department. S/he would be part of a group that develops start-to-finish online maps for a wide array of news topics. We're looking for a quick thinker, creative problem solver, idea generator and strong team player. Candidates should have a demonstrated ability to excel at creating both daily breaking news graphics as well as long-term, experimental applications. The ideal candidate is able to identify and interview appropriate data sources and tell visual stories through cartography and information design. S/he is constantly looking for opportunities to use developing technologies, pitch project ideas and learn new skills.
