Who Is the Greatest Running Back in NFL History?

NFL logo
Barry Sanders said Wednesday that he is quitting football despite the fact that he is only 31 and 1,458 yards shy of breaking Walter Payton's NFL career rushing record.

In 10 years with the Lions, Sanders rushed for 15,269 yards. Last year, he carried 343 times for 1,491 yards and only four touchdowns. It was his 10th 1,000-yard season in as many years.

Looking back on Sanders's career, would you say he is the greatest running back in NFL history? If not, who?

Marcus Allen
Jim Brown
Earl Campbell
Eric Dickerson
Tony Dorsett
Walter Payton
Barry Sanders
Gale Sayers
O.J. Simpson
