Maryland voters will choose a successor to outgoing Gov. Martin O’Malley (D) on Election Day, Nov. 4. The Democratic nominee, Anthony G. Brown, has been O’Malley’s lieutenant governor for the past eight years and would be the first African American elected governor in Maryland and only the third elected nationwide. His Republican opponent, Anne Arundel County businessman Larry Hogan, would be the second GOP governor in Maryland since Gov. Spiro Agnew became vice president in 1969.
