Scored more than 30 points three times, including a season-high 34 points in a 100-67 victory over Northwestern on Feb. 16. Helped lead Raiders to their first state tournament appearance and a school-record 23 victories. Had 22 points and 8 rebounds in the Raiders' 70-58 loss in the Maryland 4A championship. Averaged 18 points per game during his high school career. Scored in double figures in all but one game this season. Signed with St. Joseph's.   Girls Player of the Year G-F Monique Currie, Bullis, Sr., 6-0 Two-time All-Met Player of the Year. Scored a school-record 661 points this season to become the Bulldogs' all-time leading scorer (2,221 points). Averaged 21 points, 9 rebounds and 3 steals per game as Bullis won its second consecutive ISL AA Division championship. Finalist for the Naismith Award, given to the top girls high school basketball player in the country. Only area player selected to compete in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association All-Star Game. Finished career with 41 points and 10 rebounds in ISL AA title game victory. Signed with Duke.   Boys Coach of the Year Dan Harwood, Magruder In his 11th year at the Rockville school, Harwood led the Colonels (27-0) to their first Maryland 4A title, winning the championship without a starter taller than 6-foot-2. The victory capped the first undefeated season by a Montgomery County team in 46 years. Harwood had led Magruder to four county titles in the previous seven years, but had never advanced to the state semifinals. Harwood has a career record of 177-81, 69-5 over the last three years. The Colonels won their games by an average of 18.2 points this season, including a 15.6 point margin of victory in the postseason.   Girls Coach of the Year Richard Brown, Elizabeth Seton Third-year coach led the Roadrunners to a 27-3 record, the WCAC championship and the City Title, despite injuries to several key players throughout the season. Days before the season began, 6-3 center Erica Pollock suffered a season-ending knee injury. Key contributors Jasmine Johnson and Ebony Toliver were injured in a car accident on Feb. 6 (Toliver returned for the City Title game; Johnson did not return). Finished season by winning 15 of 16 games, losing only to St. John's in the Bishop Walsh tournament final. Won games this season by an average of 19.1 points per game. Career record: 82-11.   Boys First Team G-F Edward Basden, Eleanor Roosevelt, Sr., 6-5 Explosive, athletic player averaged 18.3 points, 8 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 3.6 steals for Maryland 4A finalist. Ended his career as the Greenbelt school's leader in points (1,119), steals (277) and assists (288). G Lamar Butler, Oxon Hill, Sr., 6-2 Outstanding shooter averaged 19.3 points, 4.5 assists and 4 rebounds per game. Clippers posted a 71-7 record, winning 35 straight games and the 2000 Maryland 4A title during his three seasons. Signed with George Mason. G Jonathan Hargett, National Christian, Sr., 6-0 Smooth shooter with outstanding ball-handling ability averaged 22.5 points and 6 assists per game. Also made 81.5 percent of his free throws as the Eagles (20-10) won the Beltway League title. Signed with West Virginia. G Jason Ingram, T.C. Williams, Sr., 6-4 Versatile guard averaged 18.5 points and five rebounds per game as Titans went 25-4 and advanced to the Virginia AAA semifinals. Was named Patriot District and Northern Region player of the year. G Chris McCray, Fairmont Heights, Jr., 6-4 Long-range shooter averaged 28.5 points per game and made 40.1 percent of his three-point attempts. Made 11 of 17 three-pointers and scored a season-high 49 points in win over St. Frances of Baltimore. G Marcus Neal, Annapolis, Sr., 6-0 Averaged 30 points per game and finished with a 1,744 career points, second-most in Anne Arundel County history. Made a county-record 215 three-pointers in his career, including a school-record 84 this year. F Levi Watkins, Montrose Christian, Sr., 6-8 Averaged 23.2 points and 11.2 rebounds per game as the Mustangs went 21-4, advancing to the final of the Beltway League tournament. Named league's most valuable player. Signed with N.C. State. G Shawn Wiggins, Spingarn, Sr., 6-2 Helped lead Green Wave (27-7) to its second consecutive DCIAA championship. Averaged 23.7 points, 7 rebounds, four assists and three steals per game. Scored 30 or more points four times this season. F Jamaal Wise, Paint Branch, Sr., 6-5Averaged 24.5 points, 11.6 rebounds and 3 blocks for the Panthers, who won their first 24 games before losing in the Maryland 3A West Region final. Finished career with more than 1,350 points.   Girls First Team G Cotelia Bond-Young, Elizabeth Seton, Jr., 5-7 A pure shooter and among the best ball-handlers in the area, she averaged 18 points, 6 assists and 5 steals per game. Season highlight: Scoring 40 points in an 85-73 victory over O'Connell on Jan. 30. G Rochelle Coleman, Paint Branch, Sr., 5-8 School's all-time leading scorer (1,595 points) averaged 17.4 points and 8.3 rebounds. Helped lead Panthers to three consecutive state tournaments, capped by last month's Maryland 3A championship. Signed with Syracuse. G Shanda Holmes, H.D. Woodson, Sr., 5-6 Three-year starter averaged 17.9 points, 6.5 rebounds and 6 steals per game. Led the Warriors to their 16th DCIAA title and sixth City Title game appearance, the most of any conference school. Signed with Virginia Tech. G-F Candice Howard, Bladensburg, Soph., 6-0 Strong, versatile player led Mustangs (22-4) to the Prince George's 3A title and the Maryland 3A semifinals. Averaged 30.3 points during the 3A East Region tournament and averaged 20.6 points and 11 rebounds for the season. G Jill Marano, Arundel, Sr., 5-8 Point guard finished career with a school-record 480 assists. Averaged 15.9 points per game as the Wildcats won their second consecutive Maryland 4A East title. Is the school's second-leading career scorer (1,291 points). Signed with La Salle. C Lynette O'Reggio, Elizabeth Seton, Sr., 6-4 Averaged 12 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Roadrunners (27-3) to the WCAC championship and City Title.
