Swimmer of the Year

Kate Ziegler | O'Connell, Sr.
A four-time All-Met and two-time swimmer of the year, Ziegler closed out her outstanding career with the Knights by setting an American high school record in the 500-yard freestyle at Metros in 4:33.35. In the 200 freestyle, she equaled the fastest high school time on record by touching the wall in 1:45.49.

Coach of the Year

Dave Lassiter | Yorktown
In his second season, Lassiter guided the Arlington school to its first ever Virginia AAA girls' swimming championship with a five-point victory over Robinson and Fairfax. At states, the Patriots defended their 200-yard freestyle relay title with a state-record and automatic all-American time of 1:36.58. They also won the 200 medley relay with an automatic all-American time of 1:47.66.

First Team

Mei Christensen | South Lakes Sr.
Christensen, a two-time All-Met, defended her Virginia AAA 200-yard individual medley championship with a state-record and automatic all-American time of 2:03.61. She also won the state 100 backstroke title with a state-record time of 56.11. Will swim for Virginia.

Ashley Danner | Lake Braddock Soph.
A repeat All-Met, Danner defended her Virginia AAA 100 breaststroke championship with a state-record and automatic all-American time of 1:02.68. She finished second at states in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:03:66.

Colleen Haase | Good Counsel Jr.
Haase earned her second consecutive All-Met selection by winning the 200 individual medley and 100 breaststroke at Metros with automatic all-American times of 2:05.45 and 1:01.56.

Katura Harvey | Richard Montgomery Jr.
Harvey helped the Rockets win a third straight Montgomery County title by claiming first place in the 200 and 500 freestyle. She took second in both events at Metros.

Katy Hinkle | Yorktown Jr.
Hinkle helped the Patriots win their first Virginia AAA championship by swimming on their victorious 200 medley relay and 200 freestyle relay teams, which finished with automatic all-American times of 1:47.66 and 1:36.58. She placed second in the 50 and 100 freestyle at states with automatic all-American times of 23.71 and 51.43.

Liz Kemp | Good Counsel Sr.
A four-time All-Met, Kemp led the Wheaton school to its 10th consecutive Metros title by winning the 50 freestyle in a meet-record 23.28 and the 100 butterfly in 55.47. Will swim for Florida.

Amanda Kendall | Robinson Fr.
Kendall won the Virginia AAA 100 freestyle championship with a state-record and automatic all-American time of 51.33. She also won the state 50 freestyle with a time of 23.65.

Suzanne Schwee | Stone Bridge Soph.
In Stone Bridge's first year in the Virginia's Group AAA, Schwee won the state 100 butterfly title with a state-record and automatic all-American time of 55.43 seconds. She also finished second in the 100 backstroke with a time of 57.20.

Meg Waters | Good Counsel Jr.
Waters earned her second All-Met selection by swimming an automatic all-American time of 51.75 in winning the 100 freestyle at Metros. She also competed on the winning 200 medley and 200 freestyle teams.
