  • Andrea Henkel, Germany: Won 15-kilometer biathlon. Swedenís Magdalena Forsberg, long considered the best female biathlete, finally won an Olympic medal by taking the bronze.

  • Travis Mayer, United States: Silver in moguls. Gold to Finlandís Janne Lahtela.

  • Andrus Veerpalu, Estonia: Won countryís first Winter Games gold by taking the menís 15-kilometer cross-country.
