Where to find food and drink “trails” to pair with outdoor hikes

Located in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains, Allegany County, the Mountain Side of Maryland, is famous for its outdoor hiking and biking trails, access to public lands, and beautiful views. Increasingly however, exiting the outdoors has meant an entrance to other kinds of trails – the sort where you’ll find a variety of coffee and donuts, ice cream, even beer and wine.
In fact, the options in all three categories are so voluminous, that Allegany County has minted official “trails” for all three. Consisting of independently owned businesses where proprietors take pride in their crafts, the Coffee and Donut Trail, the Ice Cream Trail, and the Taps and Pours Trail offer visitors a welcome respite from a day of hiking and biking.
