Most working professionals are looking for more than career success. True job fulfillment comes from knowing your efforts – big or small – are making a positive change in the world.
American University’s graduate programs are infused with these same humanitarian values, fostering a new generation of leaders that understand the balance between power and equity.
“There are some pretty important educational values of American University,” said current graduate student Kennedy Fisketjon. “Our motto for the School of International Studies is ‘waging peace.’ It’s really important to us that we center conflict resolution and empathy in our studies.”
Education at AU doesn’t just mean textbooks and lectures – the university focuses on students’ desire for driving change and promoting justice in every corner of society. Additionally, the AU campus is just 15 minutes from downtown D.C., a thriving center of commerce, culture and international diplomacy.
“Location was important,” said Ogaga Udjo, a graduate alumnus from American University. “I wanted to be in an area where I felt was at the heart of business and policy. I particularly wanted to be in a space that was quite open to all of my identities and the intersectionality of them.”
American University has more than 100 graduate programs to explore, from a Master of Arts in Public Administration to a Master of Science in Environmental Science. These innovative programs combined with the school’s talented faculty make AU a hub for compassionate learners and future leaders.
“American University is a really unique place,” said Vicky Wilkins, Acting Provost and Chief Academic Officer at American University. “It’s a place that tends to bring together faculty, students, staff that all share this passion for what they can change in the world.”
