A weekend away, closer than you think
Sometimes the best weekend getaways are hiding closer to home than you think. For D.C.-based creator ClockoutDC and her husband, a couples trip to Baltimore County, Maryland, offered a chance to trade the usual routine for fresh air, local flavors and a few unexpected discoveries.
What makes the area work for a weekend away is the variety. You can spend the morning on a scenic trail, stumble upon a roadside farm stand, explore a creative space or settle in for a meal worth lingering over. There’s history woven throughout, but also a sense that there’s always something new to try, whether that means picking your own produce, signing up for a woodworking class or discovering a local spot you’ll want to revisit. There’s no need to choose between an outdoorsy escape, a foodie weekend or a more laid-back retreat. In Baltimore County, those experiences can easily fit into the same trip, with plenty of quaint accommodations to rest in at the end of the day.
