Heavy industry accounts for nearly 30% of global carbon emissions. For these businesses, setting and achieving meaningful carbon-reduction goals can be complex.

At ExxonMobil, we’ve been working to reduce our own carbon emissions. At our plant in Baytown, Texas, one of the world’s largest integrated refining and petrochemical operations, we’re working to deploy hydrogen power and carbon capture to reduce emissions by up to 30%. There, we expect to produce up to 1 billion cubic feet of hydrogen per day made from natural gas, and expect over 98% of the associated CO2 to be captured and safely stored underground. This will enable us to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions at Baytown, help our customers reduce their emissions and provide additional solutions to area industries.
Now, we’re ready to take solutions like these to others in heavy industry so they can create a plan to make similar reductions. Explore how we are scaling up technologies like hydrogen, carbon capture and storage and low emission fuels with the goal of implementing at scale in other industries. Together, we can deliver lower emissions for American industry.
