It all started with one curious step through a mysterious portal.
In the days leading up to the Maryland Renaissance Festival’s 50th anniversary, King Henry VIII and Anne of Cleves are inspecting the village when they stumble upon a never-before-seen merchant called a “Timesmith” that sends them hurtling through time. When they land, Their Majesties find themselves in a place unlike anything they’ve ever imagined: Washington, D.C., just as America gears up for its 250th birthday.
What follows is a whirlwind of unexpected discoveries, unbelievable sights and enough royal revelry to fill history books for centuries. Before long, the King is confusing basketball courts with royal courts, trying his luck at a blackjack table and discovering that modern traditions are every bit as fun as Renaissance ones.
