The relentless busyness of modern life can leave us feeling exhausted and anxious. But experts suggest there’s one under-used tool that might make all the difference: optimism.

Dr. Jessica Clemons, known more informally to her 86,000 Instagram followers as “Dr. Jess,” agrees. A mental health expert and board-certified psychiatrist, Dr. Jess advocates that rather than try to “fix” everything that feels stressful, which can increase anxiety, we find ways to feel present and content instead.

In the second lesson of our two-part video series, “Cup of Optimism” (above), Dr. Jess teaches “Be in the Moment to be Well” — a practical guide to making simple moments, from eating an orange to drinking an energizing cup of tea, refresh your whole day and keep your cup of optimism full.
