Inside every MGM Resort property around the world, visitors will find a thoughtfully-curated collection of art seamlessly integrated throughout the halls and walls of the entertainment meccas. In 2016, MGM Resorts’ art collection was valued at more than $200 million. The MGM National Harbor—the first luxury gaming resort in the region—is no different, as the grounds display 68 pieces by 33 artists.

Made from hundreds of aluminum plates, “Whirlpools” resembles waves of the Potomac River.

As visitors pull up to casino valet at MGM National Harbor, they’ll see the “Whirlpools” sculpture by Alice Aycock. The shape is inspired by the movement of the Potomac River.

Local artist Margaret Boozer made this map using 10,000 pounds of soil from the site during construction.

The Conservatory

The centerpiece of the resort, this 15,000-square-foot display changes seasonally throughout the year.

Forest

Artist Katherine Tzu-Lan Mann created “Forest” by painting sheets of paper and collaging them on site.

Viola Frey’s sculptures are made up of several pieces that were put together to look messy and primitive.

Measuring 9 feet tall, Viola Frey’s “Man and Woman” show off the artist’s signature use of bold, brash colors. Frey’s figures have been called “icons of 20th century ceramics.”

Cinderella shoe

The “Cinderella Shoe” is a highly-popular sculpture with fascinating details throughout that’s displayed in the resorts retail district.

The stainless steel “Cinderella Shoe” by Liao Yibai is a symbol of society’s focus on consumerism in the U.S. and in China.

The Wells

“The Wells” are best observed by standing right over them.

Artist Chul Hyun Ahn created these optical illusions using LED lights and mirrors to create a sense of limitless space. The arrangement replicates the astrological sign of Leo the Lion, a nod to the MGM’s lion.

Portal

The casino’s entrance features Bob Dylan’s first permanent public sculpture, “Portal,” made up of objects he’s collected.

Potomac Plaza

Visitors can observe the resort’s gorgeous surroundings as they relax on the Potomac Plaza.

At night on the Potomac Plaza, 124 jets illuminated by LED lights are programmed in the oval-shaped pool to make mesmerizing shapes in the sky.
